ACAP receives funds from the State of Washington to provide nutritional, high quality breakfast, lunch and snacks for children in our programs -- that they like to eat. We operate a full kitchen meeting DSHS licensing standards, under the management of an exceptional cook.

We emphasize fresh foods, variety and that meet the nutritional standards necessary for a child to thrive – but especially, important is that children like the food they eat. We work closely to assure that kids with food allergies have the same quality of healthy foods that meet their own special dietary needs.

Nutrition, along with health and safety are also a component of our children’s educational programs. Kids learn what is good for them and what they need to grow healthy and strong and to support their learning.

The only thing better than cooking it is eating it!!!

Favorite ACAP Recipes
Bacon Tomato Cups

 

8 slices bacon, crispy

½ cup mayonnaise

1 medium tomato, chopped

1 tsp. Basil

3 ounces grated swiss cheese

½ small medium onion

1 can refrigerated biscuits – flakey

 

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Coarsely chop bacon, tomato & onion. Grate cheese & mix together
Press dough into muffin tins. Fill cups with mixture. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.



Chicken & Broccoli Pockets

 

Chicken breasts Broccoli

Broccoli

Salt & Pepper

Cheese

Vegetable oil – 1 Tbsp

8” tortillas

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cook chicken over medium heat until done & season. Let cool & coarsely chop. Cook broccoli until just tender & coarsely chop.
Combine meat, vegetables & cheese & toss well.
Place a packed ½ cup of meat mixture on tortilla. Fold in sides ½ inch.
Tightly roll up
Place pockets seam side down on an oiled baking sheet. Bake until crisp – 12 minutes. Cut in half for kids.

In May and June the kids got dirty---
with great planting projects!

Seeds were started indoors and plants moved outdoors when weather warmed up.  Kids helped prepare soil outside and planted their seeds in classroom gardens.  And, they helped plant a kitchen garden of herbs and vegetables.

           

Miss Marty’s class has already had a chance to eat their peas right out of the pod…and decided that was “good.”  Way better than frozen peas.
