VOLUNTEER NOW!
Community non-profit organizations like ACAP depend on the
support, caring, and generosity of the communities to which they provide
services. That help keeps our facilities in good repair, our programs dynamic
and providing top quality services, and assures our children and
their families receive the services they need when they need them.
Our
children receive remarkable benefits when they see community volunteers
in “their center” – reading books to children, playing
a game, teaching a song or rhyme, building a tower of blocks with kids – or
mowing the grass, planting flowers, or painting a wall. A community
that values children enough to spend time with kids and gives of their
own time and labor to assure children’s surroundings are bright
and attractive, safe and clean is teaching each child (1) they are
of value, and (2) that community service is a valued behavior standard.
The child who feels valued by someone is less likely to fail in later
life. As individuals we never know how our “touch” will
impact another human life.

The Morning Auburn Valley Kiwanis volunteered to help ACAP spread new bark on the playground around the play equipment.
ACAP's kids were impatient and wanted to start the process on Friday. |
|
On
Saturday... the Kiwanis crew took over.... with their big toys.
Thank
you Valley Kiwanis! |

Boeing
employees and families return to help us remove old dying shrubs
and plant new ones. Those people know how to work!

Volunteers also bring expertise into our classrooms to help kids learn new
things.
August brought Norm Johnson, Master Gardener to work with the class and hand
out certificates to the kids for all they had learned about gardening,
planting and weeding.
